Featuring the wicked music of:
JASPER SLOAN YIP

Jasper Sloan Yip is a Vancouver-based singer/songwriter whose razor-sharp, quick-witted lyrics are an unexpected match for his folk-infused melodies and instrumentation. Within a month of completing his first full-length album Every Day and All at Once, lead single “Kiddo” was in regular rotation on CBC Radio 3. “Slowly,” the second single off of Every Day and All at Once spent ten weeks on the CBC Radio 3 top thirty, making it as far as number four.
YES NICE
http://www.myspace.com/yesnice
In July, this five-piece with a love for pitch-perfect harmonies, swirling strings, hand claps, and catchy melodies were chosen as top 20 finalists in the Peak Performance Project- an annual artist development competition run by the Peak 100.5 FM and Music BC. Live, the band is known for blowing audiences away with displays of tremendous lyrical maturity, passionate performances, and airtight recreations of their recorded work.
41ST AND HOME
http://www.myspace.com/41standhomemusic
Starting as a humble collaboration between drummer Garth Covernton and singer/songwriter Thom Kolb in 2008, 41st and Home has since grown into a lush, orchestral, folk-tinged dream pop combo. Supported by a rotating cast of violinists, trumpeters, and multi-instrumentalists, their stories of relationships, long drives, and hours spent together in a small, carless garage somewhere on 41st avenue are decadent, heartfelt, and elegantly crafted. The band are also top 20 contenders in the Peak Performance Project, and like Yes Nice, come to Media Democracy Day fresh on the heels of a hugely successful showcase at The Red Room.
