. Friday, June 19th IMU presents COLIN RINK CD Release Party with special guests WALTZ DARLING, The HARVEST & KORALEE @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir . Doors 9pm / Cover $10
COLIN RINK is a Vancouver singer/songwriter who performs emotionally-driven songs of passion and heartache. Growing up in both western & eastern Canada, he's built an audience extending across Canada and the States. His on-stage style, charisma and energy seem to be one of wonder, playing as if every performance was his last. His dedication to his music has spanned many years, leading to the release of his latest CD, "Bury Me Deep in The Ground". http://www.myspace.com/colinrink
WALTZ DARLING have entertained local audiences for years with their crazy musical journeys. Sustained by their passion for all styles of music, their Eastern European roots have always been woven into their songs. Atila is Hungarian while his cousin Robert hails from just across the Serbian border. Their disagreements are the stuff of legend and high comedy. Rich's background is Polish and German, while Michael's grandparents were Russian Jews who ran from pitchfork-wielding neighbors. Their simmering Slavic emotions facilitate both colourful arguments and renewed artistic inspiration: this music is in their blood and always has been in one form or another since childhood. http://www.myspace.com/waltzdarling
The HARVEST - Spawned in Victoria, The Harvest quickly relocated to Vancouver after realizing that sandalwood and politics weren't in the cards for them. Their sound is a mix of punk ethics, D.I.Y. personality and genuine passion for great music in a variety of styles from hard rock to blues and ska. While maintaining a steady regiment of songwriting, recording, shows and rehearsals, they've now opened a new home base in their own Aurora Studios where they're currently finishing work on their forthcoming second CD. http://www.myspace.com/myharvest
KORALEE is a talented Vancouver-based singer/songwriter with an electroacoustic neo-soul sound that's been compared to the likes of Beth Orton, Marianne Faithful, Lucinda Williams and Joan Armatrading. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she started singing in musical theatre as a child, but it took her years to accept music as her true calling. In the meantime, she lived everywhere from London, England to Chicago to Calgary to Los Angeles. Running? Maybe. Searching? Definitely. Acting? Just google her name for the answer. But everyone she met was drawn by her voice to the point where it became obvious that she was meant to be a singer and songwriter with an audience waiting. http://www.koraleemusic.com
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
