The DUSTIN BENTALL OUTFIT - Hailing from North Vancouver, Dustin has packed a lot of living into his two decades and intends to color the rest in without much concern for going over the lines. Playing alt-country songs influenced by the likes of Neil Young, Gram Parsons, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Wilco, Dustin found the heart of that music and placed it under his own landscapes. With vocals that range from soft melodies to belt it out gravel blues, his songs speak of a bright eyed beginning and a final truth all at the same time. These are beautiful scars seen through bleary eyes that ring true with a wind blown integrity and an uncompromising lust for life. http://www.myspace.com/dustinbentall
The MATINEE has emerged as one of the west coasts premier independent bands. Blending a passion for fine ale and finely crafted tunes, The Matinée offer a unique spin on a roots-rock sound that is quickly attracting both national and international audiences. Writing songs that paint pictures of empty bottles and broken hearts, broken bottles and empty hearts, their collection of songs has effortlessly come to life. As they continue with their hard-nosed, do it yourself, blue collar work ethic, there is little doubt that this show is worth the price of admission. Hold on to your seats & its showtime for The Matinée! http://www.myspace.com/thematinee
The WEBER BROTHERS - From their new country/pop sounds a la Wilco and older influences that bring The Band and Eric Clapton to mind, The Weber Brothers' rocking guitar riffs, howling vocals and haunting harmonies meld together with their Vegas showmanship into a highly diverse sound. At the ages of 18 and 20 the brothers have played alongside their heroes Garth Hudson and Levon Helm of The Band as well as musicians like Jeff Healey, Kris Kristofferson and the Tragically Hip. They've met John Fogerty, played a private performance for Robbie Robertson, auditioned for Chuck Berry, opened for Travis Tritt and played for over 80,000 people. They impressed Ronnie Hawkins so much that he said, "They have the talent to be as big as anyone in the world", inviting them to his house north of Peterborough to attend his 90 day Rock and Roll Boot Camp. After three months of living and rehearsing on Hawkins' farm, the brothers became members of his world famous band The Hawks. http://www.weberbrothers.com
CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS - It's dawn again. Bright light on weary eyes through the truck's dirty windshield. There's a touch of adventure in spending days behind the wheel crossing this great continent of ours, picking up hitchhikers who don't talk for hundreds of miles. Closely Watched Trains build their sound on lives like this -- lives full of heartbreaking country ballads and bawdy blues stomps. From Alabama all the way to Edmonton, this roots music duo brings authenticity, dedication, and above all passion to their songs. Mixing poignant originals and dusty covers, Closely Watched Trains are not to be missed!
