Event Description
. Friday, Oct 17th I.M.U. presents LAND CD Release Party w/ special guests NO HORSES, A PALE BLUE & JOHNNY WAKEHAM AND FEATHERWOLF @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir
LAND (formerly THE FILIGREES) - This 2 man blues-driven rock and roll band focuses on tightly-crafted feel good music, strongly rooted in the spontaneity of the jam. Influenced by Neil Young, Kings of Leon and the Rolling Stones, the band's blues-rock sound has been favourably compared to the White Stripes and the Black Keys, and promises to blow the roof off with their original blend of rockin' bluegrass heart and soul. Their debut 10 song full length CD was recently recorded at Mushroom Studios and will be available soon. www.myspace.com/land1977
NO HORSES - Influenced by Springsteen, Neil Young, The Band, Sabbath, "Maggot Brain", Gram Parsons, Tom Petty, Fat Possum, Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Les Pauls, Telecasters, loud amps & Welch Amplification, No Horses are six people that get together and play music, drink beer, get stoned and play rock'n'roll the way it's supposed to be played. www.myspace.com/nohorses
A PALE BLUE was born in Alberta, and their music resonates with the imagery of the prairies: the giant skies, the hard rolling earth, and the well-worn lives of those who live between. Now based in Vancouver, their debut album "AM Gold" showcases their rugged sound while rendering the lyrical subject matter earnestly and with simplicity. A true and honest pearl of a group. www.myspace.com/brockallen
JOHNNY WAKEHAM AND FEATHERWOLF - Johnny Wakeham moved to Vancouver from the Prairies 5 years ago and started his residency by playing solo around town with an acoustic guitar and harmonica, soon rounding up some friends to back him up. As things came together, the band plugged in their electric guitars and got down to business with their tasty blend of barn rock. www.myspace.com/johnnywakeham
