Jazz 101:
An invitation to experience and learn about the rich world of Jazz music
Designed for the novice listener or musician, this two hour introductory lecture by librarian/musician Ross Bliss will trace the evolution of jazz.
Throughout the evening, recorded examples will help familiarize the audience with the recognizable characteristics of each stylistic era. Live demonstrations will also be used to illustrate some basic musical principles. Please join us for an entertaining evening of music and learning.
Also watch for the upcoming Jazz Festival Sessions on June 3, 10 and 17 at VPL, a special series of lectures that will help you get ready for the 2008 edition of the TD Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
