Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra have a unique sound that tastefully blends ska with Latin, folk, jazz, and reggae. Another name for this awesome acoustic dance music musical could be called "gypsy ska". Think Manu Chao meets Yan Teirsen. While their roots are very much in the west coast, their influences are varied and growing. Paul Wolda, having studied the Djembe since the age of 7, lays down hypnotic tribal beats as well as smooth Brazilian Portuguese vocals. El Mapache, on accordion, brings the Spanish influence with flamenco rhythms and soaring lead vocals - in both Spanish and English.
Jon and Roy are also another Victoria sensation. Both musicians compliment each other through catchy melodies and lyrics that people can relate to mixed with solid percussion that makes anyone listening want to dance or at least smile. As the Island's most read entertainment weekly said, Jon & Roy's music can be described as the signature sound to describe the vibe on Vancouver Island.
Both of these bands will have a repeat double bill performance similar to Jon and Roy's CD release only this time they'll be able to show it to all ages outdoors for more than 1000 people - FREE OF CHARGE!:)
Finally London, Ontario's Staylefish will open the evening with some nice reggae/ska rhythms that everyone can groove to. Don't miss this awesome festival bill.
And be sure to head over to White Eagle Hall afterwards for the Friday Night Ruckus with Inspector, Los Furios & Mama Pulpa!
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
