Event Description
"She's got a voice that can move cold stone", and "sings with an inherent
sense of fun, drawing the listener willingly into her world, an emotionally
charged celebration of life with all its ups and downs." Though she writes
on a variety of instruments, in live performance Karen Savoca plays conga
and hand percussion and loves to make people dance. Pete Heitzman is a
"fiendishly good" guitarist, lyrical, funky and innovative. He plucks, bends
and thwaps some astonishing textures and soundscapes from an acoustic guitar
and longhorn bass. Put these two musicians together and you've got a sound
that's unique, "uplifting and hypnotic". They don't sound like anybody else
and their style is an elusive mix of all the music they love... it's modern
folk influenced by pop, soul, rock, jazz, blues, and everything in between.
