Event Description
.. Friday, February 8th I.M.U. presents GO GHETTO TIGER, WINDOWS '78, STRIDE ELEMENTARY & ARCTIC @ The Railway Club, 579 Dunsmuir Street . Doors 9pm / $10
GO GHETTO TIGER delivers devastating synth riffs and irresistibly danceable beats with a live show that has been described as "unpredictable, always keeping you guessing about where it might turn next." Their eclectic blend of guitar, bass and synth interjects playful drum loops, samples and melodic vocals, combining into intelligent, sparkly, melodic grooves with inspired lyrics and tempo changes. http://www.myspace.com/goghettotigermusic
WINDOWS '78 dynamically explore a unique fusion of moody, guitar-driven rock and ambient electronica, delivering an innovative sound that appeals equally to human beings, Martians and robots. Described as "a new successor to the mantle of melancholy modern rock" and "somewhere between Spiritualized and Pink Floyd" (The Province), their CD "The Window Seat" showcases the premier space rock act crafting a rich, evocative sound that weaves together melodic guitar lines, subtly deployed electronic loops and masterful playing. http://www.windows78.com
STRIDE ELEMENTARY began life as a way for Glenn Gillis and Greg Williams to compose music and record songs at each other's homes. After being recruited by Vancouver's Solarists, Greg went on to join Hinterland while Glenn continued songwriting. Adding Michael Nathanson (Windows '78) and Kevin Titcomb, their unique sounds are not to be missed! http://www.myspace.com/strideelementary
ARCTIC conjures up a rich live experience by recording live guitar loops and constructing each song before the audience. Layers of haunting melodies cascade on top of richly improvised arrangements, with intertwining vocals and guitar melded into a chilled and airy soundscape. http://www.projectarctic.com
