Event Description
The Rig-A-Jig Band sets the rafters a-shakin’ again this year for the annual Victoria Folk Club New Year’s Party. Rig-A-Jig’s enthusiastic music is the perfect match for the Folk’s traditional holiday social gathering, with Ian Johnston on guitar, David Klassen on bass, Dick Pollard on fiddle, Aaron Ellingsen on fiddle, Karen Gillmore on banjo and flutes, and Molly Raher Newman on dulcimer, mandolin, and her famous washboard percussion.
We’ll dance, sing and make merry together, as we mark the turn of the year. Bring pot-luck finger-food — savory or sweet (yes, you can bring vegetables please) — and come prepared to visit with friends, sample the nibbles, and enjoy the upbeat music and song presented by The Rig-A- Jig Band.
The evening will start with a traditional New Year’s Mummer’s Play performed by the QuicksBottom Morris Men, then we’ll all get to dancing both with called dances and Waltzes and Polkas too. We’ll probably sneak some songs in as well… It’s a New Year’s party for everyone!
The kitchen will be open providing free coffee, tea, and hot spiced apple cider.
