Event Description
He isn’t sneaking into blues clubs anymore. And it’s been twenty years since he caught the eye of Mel Brown, the Mississippi Blues legend who introduced his young guitar protégé to a world of music that would become the keystone of everything to follow. But for Maple Blues Awards nominee for Best New Artist, Steve Strongman, his musical work today represents a return to his roots, and embodies the spirit of a man who has once again found his home in the heart of the Blues.
Drawing from influences as varied as Johnny Winter, Freddie King and Roy Buchanan, his newest recording, Honey, is guitar paradise. Already a master of the six string, Strongman wields his Dobro as deftly as his slide guitar, and Honey paves new ground with its pace changes, dynamics, melody, tricky riffs and mind blowing gritty greasy Blues.
Join Steve November 21, and this bright talent’s extraordinary guitar technique and innate artistry will captivate you with atmospheric pure heart ballads to scorching contemporary electric blues. Along with select classics, Steve will perform songs from Honey, and preview new material from his forthcoming 2008 summer CD release.
