In a galaxy on the other side of grunge there was once a world where shoulder pads and big hair were legal, where rock was uncomplicated and where girls just wanted to have fun. Some folks say it still exists.
96.9 JACK FM and Rock.It Boy Entertainment present 80’s rock in all its glory with the original line-up of HONEYMOON SUITE plus guests in concert on Friday, September 14th at the Bell Performing Arts Centre in Surrey. Advance tickets go on sale on June 2nd for $25.00 at all Ticketmaster outlets.
HONEYMOON SUITE was formed in 1982 by Johnnie Dee and Derry Grehan and the debut self titled album hit the markets in 1984 just as MuchMusic and MTV were defining television as the major marketing force in pop music. The band wrote great pop songs, looked sharp, performed awesomely and produced four top ten singles in Canada: "New Girl Now", "Burning in Love", "Wave Babies", and "Stay in the Light". The album went platinum, earned them a Juno Award and the single "New Girl Now" cracked the top 50 in the US and was used in the John Cusack film One Crazy Summer.
The second album The Big Prize (1986) went platinum instantly in Canada and earned them Group of the Year at the Junos. The band was in demand everywhere and they had songs featured on Miami Vice and wrote a song for Martin Sheen’s film The Wraith and for Mel Gibson’s Lethal Weapon 2. They had fun, that’s for sure. Other albums followed, with Lemon Tongue, the last studio album in Canada, released in 2002. A superb anthology of their best music titles Feel it Again was released just last year. HONEYMOON SUITE has had some unavoidable member changes over the years but the original group is back together playing the way they always played.
