Event Description
.. Friday, June 29th IMU presents A WILD PARTY! The FEBRUARY MARCH, The TOP DRAWERS, DANNY ECHO & The NEW ACRONYMS @ The Backstage Lounge on Granville Island (1585 Johnston St.) . 9pm / $10
The FEBRUARY MARCH - Formerly known as FORMULA, this 4-piece indie rock band showcases British influenced guitar-orientated classic rock. The band has played the Western Canada Music Awards, Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival and Thunderbird Stadium as well performed live on City TV and Global News. With their newest album recorded at Mushroom Studios and backed by Swiss label B&C Entertainment, you can expect this band to pick up steam quickly!
TOP DRAWERS - This nitty gritty garage rock band features Eric Lefebvre from local Beatles tribute Twist & Shout, Patrick Jacobson from the Capitals, Marla Mcqueen from Black Eyed Blonde and Del Cowsill from the infamous Cowsills. Influenced by all those great '60s Nuggets from the UK and US, their raw, edgy, in your face rock'n'roll is guaranteed to groove!
DANNY ECHO - As a boy, Danny Echo longed to be in front of an audience playing his tennis racquet. He later discovered an electric guitar, amplifier and band are more effective at getting people's attention.
After touring the UK with their previous band The Ryecatchers, Dan and Mark decided not only to keep the fire burning but to stoke it with the energy and excitement that all fans of great rock and roll embrace. Their British-inspired melodic rock is informed by a wide range of music including the Rolling Stones, Beck, Dandy Warhols, The Beatles, Radiohead and The Kinks.
The NEW ACRONYMS - Influenced by industrial trip hop, British alternative and hardcore punk, the band plays diverse, dynamic alternative rock influenced by Radiohead, Muse, the Deftones, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, NIN, and Massive Attack, with elements of these bands unabashedly incorporated into their songs. Playing both cover songs and originals, The New Acronyms are intent on bringing a striking and innovative brand of rock music to Vancouver.
