THE MANVILS - This talented quartet delivers an intense, unrivalled live show with scorching guitars and bellowing vocals that merge into a modern take on the psychedelic blues sound pioneered by The Yardbirds, Velvet Underground and the Stones. Having shared the stage with prestigious bands including The Stereophonics, The High Dials, They Might Be Giants and Brian Jonestown Massacre's lunatic frontman Anton Newcombe, The Manvils enthusiastically abandon themselves to intoxicating rock liberation, converting new initiates to their ever-growing legion of fans every time they take the stage. http://www.themanvils.com
LIONS IN THE STREET create rock'n'roll that is fierce and genuine, invoking vintage Stones swagger and raunchy boogie rock 'n' roll with lean attack and ass-kicking rhythmic sense. Formerly known as The Years, the Lions have shared stages with the likes of Jet, Kings of Leon, Ambulance Ltd, The Dirtbombs and The Zutons and "explode with a Stones/Small Faces onslaught that drips with jubilant passion, as well as very loud guitars played with giddy abandon" (Guitar Player Magazine). Michael Corcoran of the Austin American-Statesman extols the Lions as being "the first great band I saw this year at SXSW!" http://www.myspace.com/lionsinthestreet
MAD SHADOW - Electric, charged and explosive, guitarist Danny Sveinson (also known as The Rock'n'Roll Kid and formerly of the recently disbanded Sonic City) was featured in a popular CBC Newsworld documentary. He inherited his love of classic guitar-rock from his dad's vinyl stash and by March of 2004 had became the youngest person to ever play the Commodore Ballroom, opening for Colin James. Be sure to check out his newest project Mad Shadow this special evening! http://www.myspace.com/madshadowband
MARY'S GUNNS - More metal than GnR, more laid-back than Megadeth, more Southern than Motley Crue, and more Northern than AC/DC, Marys Gunns pick up where the 80s heavyweights left off and scream new life into classic rock. Their music is in no way just a retro trend or merely derivative, it is instead a continuation, expansion and addition to a balls-to-the-wall rock and roll tradition. As the bastard sons of Axl and Slash, Steve and Joe, Ozzy and Tony, Angus and Bon, Page and Plant, their sound is deeply rooted in the music they grew up banging their heads to. http://www.myspace.com/marysgunnsforever
