World-renowned classical guitarist Pepe Romero returns to Victoria for a special fundraising concert.
Pepe Romero has been playing for over 50 years and has made more than fifty recordings, as a soloist, with orchestra, and as a member of the world famous Romeros Quartet, dubbed the Royal Family of the Guitar.
He has been knighted by King Juan Carlos I of Spain and awarded an honorary doctorate in music from the University of Victoria. He has performed at the White House and the Vatican and has played for many of the kings and queens of Europe.
Pepe Romero is perhaps the world's finest guitarist, his playing a miraculous balance of virtuosity and lyricism, elegance and energy, refinement and passion.
An international performer in his own right, Alexander Dunn is head of the Victoria Conservatory of Music Guitar Department and has performed and studied with Pepe Romero. He joins Mr. Romero for what promises to be an extraordinary concert.
"Pepe Romero is one of those rare artists in whom virtuosity serves to illuminate the music and not the performer's ego."
- San Diego Union
"This music is Shakespeare, not just notes on a page"
