Event Description
It’s been five years since Pete Yorn was hailed as one of “Ten to watch in 2001” by Rolling Stone magazine. Since then, the New Jersey-born drummer-turned-singer has released three critically acclaimed records, become an in-demand songwriter, contributed to numerous tribute albums and movie and TV soundtracks (Shrek 2 and Spiderman).
With Nightcrawler, Pete Yorn completes the trilogy begun with 2001’s Musicforthemorningafter. His most daring and challenging record yet, the new album features a wealth of striking harmonic textures and sophisticated chord shifts framed in a lyric sensibility that’s dark, hopeful, knowing and funny, all at once. The multi-talented Pete plays much of the music himself, while guests include another singing drummer, the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, pounding the skins on the first single “For Us”, and Natalie Maines and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks add backing vocals and fiddle, respectively, on the track “The Man”. (Pete co-wrote the song “Baby Hold On” on the Chicks’ latest #1 album, The Long Way.) With Nightcrawler, it looks as though Pete is “one to watch” in 2007, as well.
