Tom Varner/François Houle Quartet
Seattle-based Tom Varner is unquestionably the foremost jazz French horn player of his generation and is also a highly creative arranger and eclectic composer. He has performed and recorded with Steve Lacy, Dave Liebman, John Zorn, and many others. Vancouver-based clarinetist François Houle is a spectacular musician “who appears to have no limitations stylistically or sonically” (L.A. Times). The quartet will perform compositions by the great Steve Lacy as well as repertoire that Lacy loved: Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and more. With Dan Gaucher drums and Tommy Babin bass.
