Cuong Vu Trio
JUNE 23 Vancouver East Cultural Centre
Vietnam-born, Seattle-raised Cuong Vu is one of a new breed of innovative musicians. A distinctive musical voice, Cuong has built a unique sonic architecture on the trumpet rooted in jazz, pop, and funk that blurs all stylistic borders. Splendidezine.com writes, “Cuong is the nearest thing to encapsulating and surpassing [Miles] Davis’ range of textures. Imagine, if you will, Bitches Brew or On The Corner, but with more cinematic clarity…that’s where Cuong Vu and his musical juggernaut are sitting, just waiting to crush you. And you’ll love it.” Vu’s artistic collaborations include Laurie Anderson, David Bowie, Cibo Matto, Bill Frisell, and the Pat Metheny Group with whom he recently won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Vu’s latest recording is called It’s Mostly Residual (Artist Share). With Stomu Takeishi electric bass and Ted Poor drums.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
