About

Palm Court Orchestra

The Palm Court Orchestra was founded by conductor Charles Job in 1986 and gave its first concert in April 1987. In the decade since the Palm Court Orchestra, one of the few ensembles in the world dedicated to the performance of light music, has built up a devoted following in Victoria and southern Vancouver Island for its sensitive and affectionate performances of Palm Court repertoire.

Among the many guests who have performed with them, probably the most notable is English composer and conductor Ernest Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson made his first trip to North America in 1996 to conduct the Palm Court Orchestra's annual Festival of British Light Music and returned a year later for their tribute to the dean of light music, Canadian composer Robert Farnon.

Offering three concerts each year in both Victoria and Sidney, the Palm Court Orchestra has developed a loyal audience throughout Vancouver Island and abroad. Its unique repertoire of light orchestral music creatively bridges the gap between traditional symphony programming and the "World of Pops".
