PACIFIC EDGE CHORUS is a musical group of female singers based on the WestShore of Victoria, BC. We perform all over Vancouver Island and compete each spring with other choruses throughout western Canada.
Our songs grab an audience and make them want to sing along, or shed a tear as we spin a tale of passion with our ballads. Some of our repertoire includes popular songs by Adele, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Train, Neil Diamond, Irving Berlin, Lennon & McCartney, Simon & Garfunkel, and Gordon Lightfoot.
Pacific Edge Chorus' "impressive energetic choreography, beautiful musical renditions, and engaging showmanship captivate audiences. This spirited chorus truly embraces the vocal artistry and technical expertise of a cappella four-part harmony."
In November 2014, as the City of Gardens Chorus, we were awarded gold medals by Sweet Adelines International judges in the Harmony Classic Division AA category for mid-sized choruses, which was limited to the top five choruses world-wide. The Chorus’ 48 female singers performed a colourful Mardi Gras entertainment package. Master Director Julie Smith and Assistant Director Diane Butler directed the Chorus. The Chorus has been entertaining and competing since chartering with Sweet Adelines International in 1967. Members from all over Greater Victoria and as far as Parksville travel to Tuesday evening rehearsals at Gordon United Church hall, 935 Goldstream Avenue.
Invitations to strut our award-winning talents are always welcome. We sing at local events and festivals and have donated many performances to benefit charitable organizations. The Chorus has performed for a Governor General, three Lieutenant Governors, and at events honouring the Canadian Naval Centennial. In 2010 the Chorus toured England and Wales, earning third place at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod.
TESTIMONIAL:
The Chorus performed at a private Canadian Naval Centennial event in Victoria and had the Governor General of Canada, Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia, and invited dignitaries on their feet and clapping.
