James Gelfand
James Gelfand, one of Canada's best pianists, has played and toured with Kenny Wheeler, Michael Brecker, Sonny Greenwich, Terry Clarke, Michel Donato, Alain Caron and Gino Vanelli. He is the recipient of both a Master's Degree in Jazz and a B.A. in Classical Music from the Eastman School of Music. Gelfand was a semi-finalist at the 1987 Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition, and his group was awarded First Prize at the Festival International de Jazz de Montral in 1992. He has also performed at Festivals in Montreux, Le Mans and Jacksonville, and has performed on over 25 recordings, including three as a leader.
