Story of the Year
After recording and releasing four independent EPs of razor-sharp punk, Story of the Year really went for it on their major label debut Page Avenue. Honing their craft and working on songs 8-10 hours a day, the five-year-old quintet O.C.-by-way-of-St. Louis crafted one of 2003’s best screamo albums, a stinging assault marked by anthemic choruses, indelible melodies and fast and furious attitude that sold near-platinum numbers. For In the Wake of Determination, the group’s recently released follow-up, Story of the Year have turned to Steve Etts (Hatebreed, Dillinger Escape Plan) for a heavier sound more akin to their full-throttle live show without losing the pop sheen that hit home on Page Avenue. That live show, a result of the undying passion and energy of one of the hardest-touring bands around, is one of the most electrifying punk experiences on the circuit today.
