Hailed in Down Beat magazine as “the most awesome bassist in improvised music,” Barry Guy is an innovative double bass player and composer whose creative diversity spans the fields of jazz improvisation, solo recitals, and chamber and orchestral performance. The Barry Guy New Orchestra, his magnificent all-star improvising big band, will perform twice at the Festival. Switzerland-born baroque violinist Maya Homburger specializes in her own highly developed style that combines chamber music, solo performance, and contemporary music. Together with Barry Guy (check out the discs on Maya and ECM), Homburger has performed in major jazz, new music, and baroque music festivals all over Europe.
