New single by S-Cape Artist celebrates life partners
Cory Pritchard, a.k.a. S-Cape Artist (
web link), is one of a small handful of seasoned hip-hop artists and emcees at the centre of Kingston's burgeoning hip-hop community. His latest single, You Make Me Fly, co-written by husband-and-wife duo Curtis and Jenna Weekes, is an homage about "…contentment and happiness with one's life with a partner," says Pritchard.
The track is a smooth and spacious R&B jam that leaves plenty of blue sky for S-Cape to soar vocally. The song itself, which Pritchard describes as, "Almost a love note," was self-recorded, and produced and mixed by Curtis Weekes at Cedar Loft Studios in Kingston (

Accompanying the new single is a music video, mostly shot in different locations in British Columbia over the summer of 2023 by Brian Naganosh (a.k.a BNogz). Jenna Weekes' appearances in the video were filmed in Gananoque by Jodi Fawcett. All editing on the video was done by Justin Lamoureux (a.k.a 92Rare) of Thunderbolt Labs in Kingston.
The footage of Pritchard was taken while travelling through the Coquihalla Pass in B.C., and was apparently improvised. "I pulled over and dove into a random glacial river due to the beauty of the landscape in the area," he explained. Still photos of behind-the-scenes accompany this article.
