Letter Lettre

Voici the official video for Les Chouette's EP Letter Lettre! Premiered at Kingston Canadian Film Festival in March 2024 ouée!

Letter Lettre is a whirly swirl through a postal wormhole and also the title track from the latest Les Chouettes EP. The song is a thank-you letter to a prof who wrote Krista an excellent reference (that she never read) for a graduate program that she didn't attend. The co-producers envisioned a 1960's'esque world where Krista encounters herself in mysterious and playful ways...oui!

A few fun things of note about the song/video:

The song was the last to be written and recorded in the music room in Krista's childhood home in Kingston, Ontario. Tasked with packing it up for her parents, she discovered the 1940's platters that came from her grandparents all the way from Detroit and they are featured in the kitchen scene (wouldn't gran be pleased!).

The distortion solo is, remarkably, from Fran's (Fran est 50% de Les Chouettes) personal recording vault. I believe this section was from a reel from the 80's and it didn't need to be adjusted pitch-wise. Apparently he put it in the song and it was perfectly - in - tune! COSMIQUE!

The animated letter sequence contains vintage pen pal letters from Krista's personal collection dating back to the 80's. Many, like the song, were written in French/English as several of her pen pals in her late teens were Francophone. She had placed an ad in the back of the "Filles d'aujourd'hui" Magazine seeking pen pals to help her improve her written French and she received over 100 candidates from Turtle Island/France eager to improve their English as well! Chouette!
