It is the only purpose-built theatre with a fly tower and proscenium stage on the East side of Vancouver and one of only 2 or 3 such early theatres left in the city. Built in 1913 as “The Alcazar Theartre”, it's name was changed to the “York Theatre” in the mid century and by the early 1980's renamed the “New York Theatre”, leased & managed by Ron Wright until the early 90's when it became the “Raja Theatre”. During it's time as the New York Theatre it became primarily a performance art theatre for band rehearsals, touring and recording studio pre-production as well as a variety of shows like The SexPistols, Metallica, etc. For bands who recorded at Little Mountain Studios such as Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, David Lee Roth and many others, it was where their pre-production was done before they went into record. Ozzy Osbourne and others used it for tour pre-prodution and Paul Janz was one of many who shot their music videos there. It was also used as a movie set before changing it's name to the Raja, and then being closed, renovated and reopened as the “York Theatre” in 2013.
For physical events that happen at a specific time. For example a concert, or dance performance. If there are multiple shows, you can still duplicate your event to cover them all.
