About

The Riverqueen

1043 Davie St. Vancouver BC
1968 - 1971
AKA Mike & Ronnie's Riverqueen or Ronnie's Riverqueen
"The Riverqueen at 1043 Davie Street was a small coffee house run by Vancouver musician Ron Small and wife, Shirley, that primarily showed folk and blues acts. Ron, an African American entertainer from Chicago, had first visited Vancouver to perform at Isy's Supper Club with his group the Fabulous Pearls. He decided to stay. In the early 1960's, Small was a regular performer at venues like the New Delhi Cabaret until, eventually, he decided it was time to have a club of his own."
