"SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT" June 28, 2019
A new permanent home for many pieces of the Royal City Music Project collection has been found and today was the first delivery to The University of Victoria, Special Collections and University Archives. Our thanks goes out to longtime Victoria and West coast music supporter
Ron Wright who, for 5 decades has held just about every position in the industry, solely facilitated getting the attention of the University as to the importance of our musical past and the significance of the collection.
In this picture, Royal City Music Project's founder Glenn Parfitt with the Director of Special Collections and University Archivist Lara Wilson with complete set(s) of “Off Beat” magazine, “Cut To" magazine, "Folio of Stars" band directory (1967) for B.C., along with issues of “Cosmic Debris”. All of these periodicals will be catalogued, digitized and available on line during the coming months. Over the summer, many more pieces will also be relocated to the University for cataloguing, digitizing while providing them with a safe and secure location. The work of the Royal City Project is financed completely by donations and next month we celebrate our 17th year of capturing music history for all to reminisce and enjoy. Photo by Ken Sherwood
