Alan Medcalf August 1, 2018
Since his earliest days in Victoria, beginning as a jazz bassist, there is not been many music related positions that
Alan Medcalf hasn't held. Whether it's playing at variety of major concerts and festivals throughout BC and Alberta with artists like Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Patricia Conroy, Valdy, Lucille Starr, Freddy Fender, Hugh Fraser, John Densmore (the Doors), Billy Cowsill (The Cowsills, Blue Shadows), Dick Damron, Damian Marshall and Beverley Elliott or being on the BC Country Music Association advisory board and eventually becoming president in 1995, Al is truly a "jack of all trades". Today after a time managing Bullfrog Studios on the mainland and multiple stage productions up and down Vancouver Island as well, Al makes the island his home, still teaching music and playing his "Telecaster" in a tribute to the Allman Brothers Band called “Blue Sky”.
