2017 Year In Review

We hope you're enjoying the new website format since we launched in 2016. It has made things so much easier to expand and manage our growing archive. Currently we are visited by over 130,000 unique visitors a month generating in excess of 1 million hits viewing more than 80,000 pages of information.
Running around with a camera and microphone for 15 years has paid off being recognized and working with the City of Victoria, Province of B.C. and Government of Canada in 2017.
When we sold out the Newcombe Conference Hall at the Royal B.C. Museum February 19th for the "Friends of the BC Archives" and shared our archive with them, it was a real eye opener just how much the general public both young and old were interested in Westcoast music history.
The "Summer of Love" presentation/reunion April 21st in support of the "Hallmark Heritage Society" held at the Victoria Conservatory of Music's Alix Goolden Performance Hall, was an awesome event funded by a Canada 150 grant that was also well attended, again by all ages. Thanks to Mike Devlin from the Times Colonist provided us with major editorial support for both events. Thanks as well goes out to a couple of local radio personalities, first Dave Lennam, guest host at CBC-One Radio who had us on air in the morning talking about our anniversary, history & subsequent events, and on Friday night May 26 with Alex Solunac, host of CFUV's "Garage Grooves" also talking about the anniversary of The Royal City Music Project and Glenn Parfitt's 40th anniversary promoting/supporting Vancouver Island and Westcoast music.
In celebration of our 15th anniversary we have uploaded a special "rarely seen" edition of the CBC Show Music Hop "Let's Go" from 1966. This Vancouver based episode features Victoria's Bobby Faulds miming the RCA International single "The Strangers" had released after winning a Battle of the Bands in the Summer of 1965, under the clock at Mayfair Mall
Also featured in this segment are: Tom Northcott, Howie Vickers, Tom Baird, Terry Jacks and Bill McBeth. Hosted by Red Robinson. Click here to view. Happy Holidays one and all from The Royal City Music Project.
