Ian is a passionate singer and guitarist who loves his Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul. Ian’s favourite childhood story goes back to Ireland, where he was born. Apparently, he and U2's Bono, as toddlers, used to play together with their families having a connection during that time. Once moved to Canada, Ian attended Oak Bay High School in Victoria and as a teenager, was immediately enlisted in a couple of bands. Ian came by his interest in music naturally as his mother was a very talented pianist who played at ‘The Gilded Cage’, in the Imperial Inn where the Capital City Centre Hotel is now located. She still tells stories about when she used to party and sing with the wrestlers who would drop by after their matches at the old Memorial Arena! Upon cumulative years of touring Western Canada with groups and duo's, Ian continues to write music and hosts an “all welcome” musical jam at the Red Lion Inn's “V Lounge” in Victoria every Saturday from 2:00pm-6:00pm. with wife, soul mate and bassist Carolynn McDowell.
