Greg Kennedy July 7, 2013
Remembering Greg Kennedy who passed away July 7, 2013.
Greg had a long history in the blues, mostly as part of the Edmonton and Vancouver scenes. He was somewhat of a mentor for John Hunter and the two of them spent time in Chicago together with Homesick James and other big names of the early 70s Chicago scene. Greg was also part of The Boogie Brothers, an Ann Arbor, Michigan based band that included John Nicholas, Fran Christina and Steve Nardella. The band traveled from Ann Arbor to Berkeley, California where they played shows opening for Commander Cody and teamed up with Luther Tucker and Skip Rose. Later Greg backed James Cotton and others (along with John Hunter) as part of Vancouver band Thunderbird Blues Band. In the 80s Greg was part of The Midnight Aces with John and longtime buddy, pianist, Don "Dr Boogie" Yuzwenko, a band that also included a young Harpdog Brown (who was somewhat mentored by the older guys).
