Jerry Adolphe September 14, 2009

Jerry grew up in Victoria, where he learned to read music from his father, himself a military drumming instructor and jazz musician. At the age of fourteen he was playing weekends in his Dad's bands when his father found himself overbooked. While radio and television work make up a portion of his income, Jerry's favorite jobs are playing and recording with many of the musicians he has always admired. With more than one hundred recording projects to his acclaim, he has worked with noted artists Oleta Adams, Philip Bailey, Peebo Bryson, Roberta Flack, Meliissa Manchester, Jeffrey Osbourne....the Colours Of Christmas C.D. produced by Robbie Buchanan, George Fox, Lisa Brokop, Collette Wise, Chilliwack, Booker T. Jones, Jim Byrnes, Long John Baldry, Sass Jordan, Shari Ulrich, Pricilla Coolridge, Valdy, Roy Forbes, Spirit of the West, Paul Hyde, Seal, Tom Jackson, Pinetop Perkins, Taj Mahal, Lowell Fulson, Fenton Robinson, Cash McCall, Pricilla Coolridge, GuitarShorty, Raffi and Sean Hogan.

Jerry gained experience playing the nightclub scene in Calgary, Alberta in the 1970's before moving to Los Angeles in 1977, where he played in a weekend band. David Foster, whom Jerry knew previously, helped him set up classes with some of his drumming heroes like session drummer Jim Keltner and L.A. Express drummer, John Guerin.

In 1980 he moved to Vancouver and started to play in R and B clubs with Jim Byrnes, Doc Fingers and others. He returned to Calgary in 1982 and played with Gaye Delorme and a studio band at Thunder Road Studios called Prototype (single Video Kids). Shortly after that he started with Bill Henderson and Chilliwack.

In the 1990's he took off in the Vancouver R and B music scene.

Jerry is a 'first call' session player in Vancouver. In addition to numerous CD, television and interactive media projects, he has played on countless commercial jingles. He performed in the stage musical "RENT" and did a CD with Rock Records in Taiwan.

Jerry is currently playing with The Jim Brynes Band, Chilliwack and Lisa Brokop and will be inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame September 20th as a member of the "Brothers Forbes".
