Firebird Riot January 6. 2009

In 1977, the Lower Vancouver Island Firebird Club put on a fund raising dance at the Quadra St. Recreation Centre. Little did they know that the band Telstarr had a strong local following and what started as a harmless gathering escalated into an over capacity crowd breaking windows, furniture and a full scale riot with car's rolled over on the street by people who couldn't get in. Our thanks to Ken Sherwood for the ticket, Glenn Parfitt for the memories and Dave Mick for another jazz group fom the 1950's.
