Our thanks to Terry Rose for sending in the great pix of bands playing at at the Cameron Bandshell. Terry also took a moment to send in a recollection of his:
"Here's a great story, I was the campaign manager for a guy at Mt. Doug High School in 1969, he was running for Student council president for the class of 1970 ( the last year that Mt. Doug was at the building on Cedar Hill Road). There were only two canidates running for the position, the other guy had a nail driving contest for his major campaign event and we had Moxie play an outdoor lunchtime concert on the front lawn. This was totally p*** ing off the Principal and Vice Principal. They put up with it for the scheduled half hour lunch concert. It became quite obvious that alot of people were enjoying this concert and had no intention of going back to class as long as the music was going on and the band realized they had an appreciative audience and had no intention of stopping. The Vice Principal came to me and said "make them stop". I just told him I couldn't. The band had plugged their amps and PA into wall plugs in a classroom, passing power cords through an open window. The Vice Principal pulled the plugs one by one first no vocal, then no bass and finally no Norm MacPherson lead, but the drummer wasn't amplified and he took off on a long (maybe 15 minute) drum solo. They were so mad!!"
