We're called Minutes and Seconds and we are a group of three guys in our early to mid-thirties. We write our own material and we jam two nights per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays). We have a sweet jam space downtown that we share with one other band and the rent is $600 per month, divided equally between everyone who uses the space.

We are looking to add a lead guitarist to the group. Finding someone who can also play keys would be fantastic, but isn't crucial. It is difficult trying to define our sound, but I guess you could say that we're striving for a mix of QOTSA, The Black Keys, Black Mountain, Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio, Pearl Jam (think Yield and the Black album), Neil Young, The Doves and Kasabian. Basically, strong on melody and thump with a lot of atmospheric presence thrown in. We're looking for someone who is comfortable developing lead parts that lend to the sound of existing songs and is comfortable with giving and receiving direction when writing new material. A relaxed and relatively grounded personality is important. If you have lofty expectations and feel you are destined to be a rock star, we're probably not for you. We just want to write a bunch of great songs, have some laughs, book some shows and record when ready.

I don't have any demos to offer at this point, but if you are interested in coming out for a jam to see what we're about and if this might be something you're interested in, we'd love to hear from you.

Cheers! - Wed, 24 Jun 2009 5:33pm Edited: Wed, 24 Jun 2009 5:34pm

Hey Mica - what happened to Just Atoms? - Thu, 25 Jun 2009 9:42pm

Thank you very much for the kind words, Steve. One of these days we'll do something together.

I have gotten a handful of responses via email as well. I'm heading up to Whistler for the weekend, so I'll see how many more, if any, responses trickle in over the next couple of days and then get back to everyone who has expressed interest and set up some jams.

As far as Just Atoms goes, the guitarist, drummer and bassist moved off of the Island. So, Minutes and Seconds is the next project and I'm excited about it.

Cheers and thanks to everyone who responded - I'll get back to you all on Sunday night. - Thu, 25 Jun 2009 10:35pm

Good to see you're getting something new together -- I'm sure it will be great. Once you're up and running we should look into doing a show together (with my new band, Year of the Rat). - Fri, 26 Jun 2009 12:07am
