a hard hitting, technically proficient (basically just a good feel for grooves in weird time signatures, no blast beats please) drummer between the age of 17-25 is needed for a heavy, slightly progressive (as in stuff that hasn't been heard before, not the "progressive" genre) leaning new anythingbutcore band. creativity is more important than school learnings. just be committed and have a positive attitude. you can email me at [email protected] or call my band/roommate jon at 250-508-1757. - Sun, 26 Apr 2009 10:32pm

apparently 84 people who aren't in bands have something better to do than a casual jam. no one wants to just have fun playing music anymore? still looking. - Fri, 1 May 2009 12:02am

As much as you need a creative "un-schooled" drummer, i think you at least what a person who can keep damn good tempo with 3-4 limbs flailing about. I for one am not one of these people and don't feel like any other bass tryout like I did before. :P Good Luck though. - Fri, 1 May 2009 6:13pm

wow, thanks mitch. your response was both insightful and completely worth the time it took to read. anyone else who's not a fucking idiot?

some bands we like- converge, mastodon, pelican, isis, every time i die, pre-crisis alexisonfire, down, heavy heavy low low, fuck the facts, deftones, kyuss, queens of the stone age, silversun pickups, thrice, alice in chains, a textbook tragedy, the fall of troy, the dillinger escape plan, botch, nine black alps, foo fighters, nirvana, dub trio, refused, cancer bats, mogwai, devil sold his soul, muse, red hot chili peppers, sublime, system of a down, the mars volta, slayer, weezer, mike patton, circa survive, led zeppelin, black sabbath, death from above 1979, high on fire, marcy playground, my bloody valentine, fear before the march of flames, lamb of god, portishead, the distillers, radiohead, between the buried and me, the melvins, the bled, the jesus lizard, made out of babies, pixies, hole, monster magnet, green river, soundgarden, smashing pumpkins, pj harvey, emily haines, arctic monkeys, elliot smith, apparatus theory (name check biatch), blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

that should cover enough territory for anyone. if you like any of those bands and you want to start a new band that doesn't really sound like any of those bands, and you're good, or even if you're not that good, and you own your own gear, please get in touch with us. genre-wise, we're going for kind of a heavy indie/stoner rock/hardcore/punk/metal salad with extra hot sauce. on the side. basically that means moderately complex riffs in simple song structures with more singing than screaming, and a huge emphasis on groove. - Wed, 6 May 2009 12:38am Edited: Wed, 6 May 2009 7:03pm

awww... thanks Tyler. I could really give a fuck what dipshits like canon have to say anyways- I've had six people contact me in the last week. Why would I want anybody to waste my time with replies that have absolutely nothing constructive to offer? I'm looking for a drummer and Mitch was talking about a bad bass tryout. Sounds like idiot material to me. - Wed, 13 May 2009 2:48pm Edited: Wed, 13 May 2009 2:52pm

scott (canon) is a good guy too though. he has a good attitude towards stuff and is/was in some killer bands. I think it's just the nature of the internet to assume a lot about a person just based on a few words. you over this mitch guy, him over you, etc. don't worry about it!

back on topic, hey drummers, send him an email or something. - Wed, 13 May 2009 4:43pm
