Oh come on people, I was just having fun with you. If you're going for an 80's New-Wave revival, my question was why pick Tears For Fears specifically? Most people thought of them as a 1 hit wonder (I can remember about 3). If you had said "Depeche Mode style project" I would have been all over that. Actually, fuck that. I'll send you an email.

EDIT: send me an email, rather. - Fri, 6 Feb 2009 8:29am Edited: Fri, 6 Feb 2009 8:30am

I've been wanting to get into something depeche mode-y. If you guys have a place to jam, I'd be interested in playing with the idea. Can either of you sing like David Gahan or Martin Gore?

For fun one day I recorded an instrumental version of "The sun and the rainfall". It just goes on and on, and the sequencer hiccuped part way through, but I think it sounds cool otherwise. It's at http://www.myspace.com/clickplay - Fri, 6 Feb 2009 2:01pm

well if it's all gonna be synths and drum machines couldn't we jam anywhere? - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 4:36am

If it's all gonna be synths and drum machines couldn't you just play it all yourself ?

I'm thinking it shouldn't all be synths and drum machines. How do you feel about sparse and catchy guitar lines? - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 11:24am

How 'bout some bass a'la Joy Division, Cure, Banshees...? - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 1:25pm

Well if you're going to do Bass, you have a choice. You can do the low register style or the higher register ala Peter Hook. - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 2:05pm

Why not both? Simultaneously? I had an eight string Kramer bass back in the eighties... could probably dredge one up somewhere... (I'm just messing... or am I?) - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 2:27pm

+1 for Peter Hook. +1 for both at once if it sounds good. That's the key element, as far as I'm concerned :) - Sat, 7 Feb 2009 5:27pm

well is anyone serious or are we just gonna bat the idea around? Joy Division is cool, not really feeling the depeche mode unless someone has a song that i should listen to other than personal jesus

P.S. Grimlord i could make it all myself but i want people to bounce ideas off of and to co-write. thought i specified that - Sun, 8 Feb 2009 12:14am Edited: Sun, 8 Feb 2009 12:17am

alright well i know this might seem kinda strange but ....do we all have personal recording setups? if so we could bounce idea's off each other over the net and see what comes off it. if we like the results then we could pursue it further. - Wed, 11 Feb 2009 3:55am

and btw zedius to answer your question i could definitely pull off depeche mode style vocals ...in fact i can do a lot of styles but i prefer crooner type vocals with some falsetto bits - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 6:53am

Sounds good. I was playing with a new patch yesterday, and figured I'd record a bit. I synced it to a drum sample with a long release, so the arpeggio on the synth punches the bass drum on repeatedly for the initial note, and then the rest of the loop plays out until it gets re-triggered. I was trying to play without sequencing, basically. - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 12:05pm

well if you wanna hear some stuff i've worked on go to http://www.myspace.com/thehartless it's pretty much all over the place but it will give you an idea ...i only did the vocals for on all fronts and then it was re edited by the clouds below.everything else is original and the rapping is something of a side project, and none of those songs are entirely finished so don't judge lol - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 12:22pm Edited: Thu, 12 Feb 2009 12:27pm

Codine, I dig the Chinawhite song. Double up the vocal line to make it a bit thicker. Perhaps get 4 tracks during the chorus part (even if its the same pitch) to make it bigger. Cheers, Lucius - Thu, 12 Feb 2009 1:45pm

Well.. looks like my current project is officially kaput, so I'm going to have some time on my hands. Might be into playing some bass on this thing if nobody has stepped up yet.

I'd be totally down, I got a bunch of equipment, I could drum, play guitar, bass, even organ a bit but not the best at the organ. Check out http://www.reverbnation.com/whitehorsesessions stuff that I've recorded and looped on my computer, some at the end are a bit synthy. - Tue, 17 Feb 2009 7:21pm

Hey Codine - sorry it's been crazy here and my email has been a little funked up or something as I didn't get your email until a day or so ago.

My apologies in any case -- I've got a project just starting up with a friend of mine and I'm going to see how far the rabbit hole goes on this for the time being. - Sat, 28 Feb 2009 9:11pm
