Yeah, kind of confusing subject line, I know.

Sadly, Eyes on Fire has suffered a set-back in that our front man has announced that he is moving away, and the three of us that are left find ourselves in something of a vacuum. We can't really continue on as Eyes on Fire, as many of our songs will be going with Gino, but we would like to continue on in a similar direction, starting by re-tooling some of DeviceBox's old songs with a new sound / singer.

The sound we are aiming for is Aggressive-Progressive. Probably will contain some elements of punk, metal, and progressive rock. To be honest, we haven't got all of that figured out, but it is going to remain heavy and hopefully groovy.

We're currently working with a good guitarist / part-time vocalist who was the lead singer of DeviceBox before. His specialty vocally is more over-driven and gritty type stuff with a bit of screamo flavour.. he could do some mean backups, and he plays some sweet guitar. Our drummer is pretty fantastic - understated and very quick to pick up on the feel for the song. And then there's me, the bass player. I prefer to play in a way that drives the song without cluttering it up, and I also like to use a lot of fuzz and distortion.

In a new member we'd like somebody who really enjoys the frontman (or woman) position, who can sing powerfully, preferably with a good range for doing a wide-variety of different sounds, and someone who can keep up vocally with intense rock music. Preferably we'd like someone who can hold up some guitar or possibly keyboards or something at the same time. In any case, we're pretty open to trying out new things / people right now.

Age-wise, for reference we are mid-20's to Early-30's, and I would say that being able to easily relate to the oldest and the youngest of us would be a good place to start in determining whether you might be a good fit.

If you got through this novel, thanks a lot, and I hope to hear from you!

PS: No ego-maniacs, control-freaks, or lazy dicks. We're all relaxed people and we'd like to keep it that way.

For some reference as to some songs we'll likely be playing around with, you can take a look at the DeviceBox page (http://myspace.com/devicebox) .. I'll be putting the newest recordings up there in the next day or so.

Some reference on what we've been doing with Eyes on Fire (and a good reference for the kind of sound we'll probably be aiming for) - check out the Eyes on Fire page (http://myspace.com/eyesonfiremusik) .. some bands that are influential would be Muse, Project 86, Stabbing Westward, Filter, Radiohead, Metric, Mobile, Alexisonfire.. and, well, stuff.

Hey Mavis and Chenae - would be stoked to jam with either of you.. we've hit a bit of a snag in that our drummer decided not to stick around in the wake of all this tumult so right now its kinda just Mike (guitarist) and Myself holding this thing together. We're going to be doing a little restructuring of the project so that we can figure out where we're going with it, but I will definitely be getting in touch with people once we've got a few things figured out.

Hopefully there will be good things on the horizon! - Mon, 9 Feb 2009 8:42am
