I say HELLS YES!!!

Looking to start something influenced by Fear, Dead Kennedys, Earth AD era Misfits etc etc. I get that politics has a huge part of this genre, but lets keep it fun too. The best hardcore bands were awesome because they were always so damn funny and ironic. Lets aim for the same.

Honestly I haven't listened to too much of the stuff over the years, and will probably need some help writing songs for it, but just wanna play some stuff for fun, maybe a few shows here and there.
I figure I'd probably play guitar or I could pick up the bass as well. Might be able to pull of the vocals, but would love to find a singer who can belt it like Danzig or Biafra.

Anyhow, important qualifications:
1: No hard drugs (or at least not at practice.) I drink booze, smoke cigarettes and have the occasional 420 incident, all of which I am fine with. You bring something harder than that over to my house and I'll kick you out of the band.
2: Please have own instrument. I have amps and stuff at my place a kit and a PA, but bring your own sticks, axes and vocal chords.
3: Don't be crazy. A little nuts is good/necessary. Threatening to kick my roommate's ass (and meaning it) for making a joke or trying to burn my house down just ain't cool. If somebody insults Karl Marx, this is not blasphemy. No Nazis!!!!
4: Have at least a bit of talent. I myself am at best an intermediate guitar player, but I do expect that anyone who will actually be in this band will have some musical ability. If all you can play is Mary Had A Little Lamb on the squier that mommy and daddy got you for christmas five years ago, this might not be the gig for you.
5: Be of legal drinking age. I have been in bands with underage members. It sucks for everybody when you can't drink/hangout before a show if we are playing at a bar.
5: Love HARDCORE!!!! - Sat, 3 Jan 2009 11:40pm

I might be interested...I'm looking to start an 80's styled punk/hardcore band, but was thinking more along the lines of the Zero Boys, Angry Samoans, Freeze, etc...stuff more rooted in 70's punk. I too play guitar, but can play bass if need be...and I can sing if I have to.

Drop me a line if you're serious in puting something together.

"the occasional 420 incident"
Sounds like one of those experimental indie-pop bands. - Sun, 4 Jan 2009 7:10pm
