| audiophil User Info... | shit you guys will use anything to get a gig. Guess what pal, people die every day for extremely preventable reasons. Odd how these "benefits" dont do much to help the people suffering, yet work wonders on peoples ego's. EVERYONE will help the Indonesians, itll be a big news story. There's truly no need for you to perform a benefit on their behalf. If you actually want to help people find a cause that you can shed some light onto, that you can bring to attention. I dont mean to start anything and im not trying to pick on just you guys, but it seems so bizarre (starting with the tsunami benefits) that people all come together for these events but not the far worse, far more prevelent pandemics that truly are manageable, unlike a natural disaster. Now if you have some connection to the earthquake and this is a personal thing your looking to do, because you have family, or history with Indonesia, then pardon me and let me meekly pull my foot from out of my mouth. And, even if it were for someone's ego, (which in this case, I'm sure is not) does it really matter if it is in fact raising money for a certain cause? I mean look at Bono... I really find the guy annoying and all but, at least he's raising awareness for 3rd world debt. Anyways, good luck starting that benefit concert.. Its about people being compassionate and coming together to help our fellow human beings who are in distress and it DOES make a difference. I was just pissy and lashing out cause I get annoyed when earthquakes gather mass media coverage and everyones attention, overshadowing all the other larger problems around the world that are ignored on a daily basis. Like I said before, see tha you have a connection to Indonesia, Im thrilled you're doing what you can, half way around the world, to help those in your country. I'm just an idealist and wish people would have benefit concerts raising awareness for the silent and slow killers around the world, like Malaria, or AIDS, or the plight of the Sudanese, ect ect. | Mofo User Info... | I fully applaud Mas Pedro for his idea and think it is a great idea. However, I COMPLETELY APPLAUD autophils' comment. Why is it whenever natural disasters happen we spring into action? 6 Million children die every year of Malaria in Africa alone, not to mention AIDS and Hunger. Thats not a disaster? Africa has the equivalant of three 911's a DAY and how much attention does that get? And please if you are even going to ATTEMPT to reply with some obscure link or ignorant comment about Africa....get some education about it first. While it may be true that benefit concerts have been made on behalf of Africa it doesn't quite sit as important in the western worlds mind. 9/11 was a PRIME example...there were THOUSANDS of benefits within months...I can count the benefits on one hand how many for Africa. I am not suggesting that there are not people out there who care, but autophil made an excellent (call me an idealist too)observation....WORSE THINGS HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS FOR LACK OF A .10 or .20 cent injection, never mind BILLIONS IN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. I again, applaud you Mas Pedro and FULLY respect you cause, I would even contribute. I mean not to diminish it in ANYWAY. | Mas Pedro User Info... | Thanks for all the responses and support guys, yes pls back to the original Subject pls. I know there's a lots of of other benefit thing we can do out there. I 've been involved with many other Social programs as well when I am still living Indonesia. And as you can see from the beginning, this is my personal Idea to do something to what happend in my Hometown. This is not an organization or a Community program, this is just one guy idea who live thousands miles away from his homeland that just destroy by mother nature. But who knows, maybe we can start from here if we want to help and do other benefit thing together. Once again thanks for all the responses and support.
