Goo is looking for a mature guitar player who will do their homework and come to rehearsal with their chops worked out. We are in it for fun but it all works better if everyone cares enough to show up regularly and actually practice a few days a week on their own. We need someone who also understands that sometimes it's just as important to NOT play as it is to play. Also, there is nothing cool about being the loudest person in the band. The most important thing is the mix and how the entire band sounds together. We want a guitar player who can listen to the other instruments and respond when it's appropriate. We want someone who can really play and knows their instrument-someone who enjoys showing off but doesn't have to fit every trick into every bar. If you really care about the overall sound and are looking for a laid back creative and truly collaborative approach to music then get in touch with us.

We are writing and recording original material so we want someone who can contribute creatively. If you have your own material we might consider including it but it has to fit the genre that we are working in which is Funk-inspired psychedelic rock. If you want to hear our music, we have a couple of tunes posted on this site under band listings. Just search for "GOO"

Our influences include The Flaming Lips, Scissor Sisters, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Phish, Pixies, Modest Mouse, Beck, and anyone who makes rock and roll for people with brains.

Again, this is about having fun but we work hard at this and we care about the craft so we are only interested in working with like minded people.

Also, we need someone who realizes that quality requires patience, compromise, and a willingness to make mistakes and learn from them. We have been working on this project for a year already and we are going to take whatever time it takes to get it right. We have partners and home lives that come first so it may take some time but perseverence is half the battle. We already know what success tastes like and we know what it looks like. We also know what it takes to get there and this project will get there with the right kind of people involved.

Cheers! - Sun, 9 Apr 2006 10:07pm Edited: Sun, 9 Apr 2006 10:47pm
