Hey. Our rock group is seeking a dream type guy or girl. You know the type...can sing well (ie on half the songs), can harmonize well (ie on just about everything else), plays both rhythm and lead guitar. Keys for us include, the ability to use effects, knows where the pocket is and can stay in it, understands that overplaying is a sin, has an appreciation for small combo rock, and is all around great. If this sounds like you then reply and we can move on from here. We also play pop songs, but rock them up quite a bit... - Thu, 5 Jan 5:43pm - Thu, 5 Jan 2006 6:23pm

thanks steve. original minded players should consider playing with us as we all have played and currently play in original bands. this band is all about doing what the blues and jazz cats get to do - play the songbook and have fun. we are not into perfect record-sounding covers, we want to interepret these songs and play them our way. just like cover versions of older hits that are released again years after the original. sometimes they are a hit again. now that's how we want to do covers: a whole night of music where you know almost all of the tunes, just done our way. the kind of thing where people don't know what you are playing until you start singing, then the lightbulb goes off...now that's fun...

jaundice. the type of tunes are not set. however, think about when bon jovi was popular early there was crowded house at the same time. we are interested in the crowded house side of things. not that we don't love jon (well, we don't), but bands like crowded house, xtc, la's, oasis, american and brit pop, is/are just more fun for us to play. they don't require massive chops, but do require restraint cause it is just so easy to overplay them. we want to rock those type of songs up a bit more. all this esplains why we are seeking a singer/guitarist and not a guitarist/singer, cause in pop the voice rules over all...

thanks to you both

i usually don't write this much but i guess i gotta be more clear - Fri, 6 Jan 2006 7:13am

Well I don't know about the pop thing, but I can do a great Gary Glitter...(yes that was sarcassim) Anyways, I don't mind doing cover tunes as a singer because its all about practise doing those kinds of songs. But I would like to shake things up a little bit of course (and I would hope you would 2).
So, if you would like to know more shoot me an email and we can set something up. I am shopping around right now and playing with different people, you know singers always in bed with someone......by the way....no offence but that isn't your bands name is it? POP101? - Wed, 11 Jan 2006 6:07pm

Yep, that's the name. Pop-101...

We are looking to educate others about the joys of pop music...

Some people (maybe you) don't really know anything about pop music's history - great songs, craft, hooks, and that indefinable thing that makes a great pop song truly something special...

We were thinking of calling it Mofo-101 but decided not to due to confusion with your name.

By the way sarcasm is spelled sarcasm not sarcassim...

It is not all about practice doing these type of songs, maybe for you, not for us.

Finally, singers are only "always in bed with someone" if they're not choosy. We are.

Best of luck with your search, Mofo... - Sat, 14 Jan 2006 6:56pm
