Ok, here's the thing...

This is gonna sound strange, but we almost want a guitarist that isn't too good. We need a guitarist that can fit into the song seamlessly, sometimes with very minimal guitar lines. There will be solos, yes; but we don't need wank. It's a way more "the song is more than the sum of its parts" thing.

We've got lots of songs, and there's certainly room for input; but even though we already have a rhythm guitarist, we hesitate to say we need a lead guitar, cause it seems most people who reply to be lead guitar want to go off every second bar.

We do groovy, funky, hard, straight up rock' n roll, and are looking for a second guitarist to finish our sound. We jam at Pro Jam sunday nights and are looking to record and do shows ASAP. We're aged between 21 and 30 (drummers can be old, lol) and are looking for someone who is free to do it full time, full on.

We've had some good people out, but we know there's someone out there that will fit in perfectly. So if you're out there thinking you want to be in a band but worry that you don't know all the theory and crap, consider it an advantage in that you won't get frustrated when the song calls for Pink Floyd instead of Van Halen.

Obviously you need to be able to play, but if you think you're no so much lead as rhythm with ambition, that's perfect.

I'm self taught and older than your drummer. I've been playing longer than your youngest member has been alive.
I understand that the best thing one guitarist can do for
another is play a solid rhythym. I can do that and a lot more. I tend to restrain myself as far as playing a lead at breakneck speed. I truly appreciate a long slow grinding sound that is well placed versus a high speed metal nail driving through your head. I think I have the capability you are looking for. If your looking for someone who can "fit into the song seamlessly" then you are looking for someone who is good at it and not just a high speed note playing machine. I think you're looking for someone who can feel the groove of your chops and compliment them with a feeling when the right time comes (thats not all the time or every second phrase of the song... timing, placement and feeling are where its at. Well the only user info is your email address...

We're really hoping to find someone within our age group, the young guys already think 30 is ancient! And if that stops everyone from gelling, then as stupid as I know it is, it matters. You sound like you know what you're talking about Pete, do you play with anyone else right now?

Nick,
you have ads up to play bass, sing as a frontman and now play guitar. Are you gonna be frustrated just playing and doing backup vocals? - Mon, 5 Dec 2005 12:10pm

I don't play the bass and have never had ads up to play the bass.I do have an ad up to sing in a band but never wanted to be a Frontman (I don't pose well.) I 've played the six string guitar for 20 years (from 11 to 31 years old). And the only thing that frustrates me is that some people put adds on this site and don't even try people out. What's the point of putting an add on here then. - Mon, 5 Dec 2005 9:28pm
