| atrocity_exhibition User Info... | Hello, We are an active, gigging, Victoria-based band that is currently seeking a new drummer. We draw influences from a number of genres, including New Wave, Post-punk, 90's Alternative, Dance Punk, Post-hardcore, Glam and Goth. Some of the artists we respect and admire would be: David Bowie, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, Muse, Silversun Pickups, Tears for Fears, The Arcade Fire, Alamo Race Track, Mutemath, Nine Inch Nails, Refused, The Velvet Underground, Metric, Stars, Joy Division, A Certain Ratio to name but a few. Our ideal drummer will: 1. Be old enough to play on licensed premises. This is the only age-related stipulation, otherwise we really don't care how old you are. 2. Be into technology. You don't have to be an expert on the cutting edge of dynamic percussion, but a keen interest in learning and experimenting with sequencing, MIDI triggers, effected drum sounds and the like is a definite plus. The more weird shit you like to bang on, the better. 3. Have a flexible schedule. We're easy going people, but we're serious and passionate about this project, and that means that we like to rehearse and write frequently (once a week minimum, 2-3 times a week when there's a lot going on). You don't have to be there all the time, but if you can only rehearse once every second New Moon, that's probably not going to work. 4. Be willing to get in a van and go, when the time comes. The internet's dandy, but there's still no substitute for hard touring when it comes to building a true fan base. We seek to plan many small excursions to Vancouver, Seattle, and up-island for the short term; long-term, we aim to plan tours in Western Canada and the US, etc. What we can promise you in return for your considerable commitment is -the ability to play shows frequently -the ability to be a part of a fully democratic band that shares songwriting duties, and truly values each member's opinions and contributions -the ability to be with musicians who are serious about their aspirations, and willing to sacrifice to take the band as far as it will go If any or all of this sounds appealing to you, please hit me up and I will provide you with examples of our material.
