Greetings from Iceland: The Heimir Male Voice Choir (from Iceland)

Event Description

Greetings from Iceland is a project launched by The Icelandic Emigration Center in Hofsós, Iceland, to honour the descendants of Icelanders who migrated to North America, to kindle interest in the "old country," and to help the Icelandic Societies in North America sustain and strengthen their connection to Iceland.

The 150-member Heimir Male Voice Choir schedule includes one concert in Victoria on their West Coast Tour, to support our island's Icelandic Societies.

Male voice choirs hold a special place in Icelandic culture, for men and women. In Iceland, male choirs are found in every town, and the act of singing, especially when done with other men, is masculine. In Iceland, singing is entrenched in the fabric of everyday life.
