*Now a resident of Victoria, Jack Lavin was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1952 and has been playing various musical instruments since he was 6 years old.
Jack was the founding member of the W.C. Handy Award winning "Powder Blues". Jack sings, play bass, harmonica, guitar and drums. He has been described as a prolific songwriter with over 100 songs in his catalogue and was nominated for a Juno Award in 1981 for the hit single "Thirsty Ears" recorded by Powder Blues.
Some of Jack's other original compositions recorded by Powder Blues include: Hear That Guitar Ring, What Have I Been Drinkin, Secret Success, Under Cover Blues, Joy Ridin, Linda, Urban Paradise, and Smokin. These days his mandate is to write and record his own songs daily, several of which are slated for a debut solo album. Currently, Jack has a couple of projects on the go that he's producing with more on the horizon and still performs live shows throughout the Westcoast. * From the website www,jacklavin.com
