| Kyle C User Info... | What do you play? What kind of group are you looking to start? Do you have any particular influences to list, etc? "Jazz" blankets some pretty divergent styles. And "scared of mike": I think it's a little tough to say that jazz exclusively is a pretentious genre. I'm sure that you and I have both run into our fair share of compulsive purists obsessing over every conceivable style of music. | Anonymous User Info... | Well, I sing jazz. I have a long history of brass with the Trombone but my new passion is the Trumpet. Ideally I would like to get an ensemble together that can play in local venues (it is a dream to perform in Pagliacci's, I don't know why, I just want to). As for what to play? I love the sound of the good old classics from Louis Armstrong, Ella, Dizzy G, Billie, and of some local jazz gods. I love the sound of the big jazz band, and small ensembles. | j-dogggg User Info... | hi there, don't know bout the rest of u punx, but I play the drum set and percussion, and I do enjoy jazz... as well as funk, reggae, dub, jungle, rock, blues, and more. What do you play, u who started this thread? I've been playing drumz for 10 years but mostly just 'pretend' to play jazz, but I sure like listening. I mostly play by feel, but can read a little sheet music.
