Hey everyone,

Jaron Evil of SEASONS OF SORROW here. As many of you may NOT know, I am well versed in several instruments, one of which is the theremin. (and yes, I have my own gear.) I am looking to pick up a few extra bucks, so if anyone has a band that requires my services for gigs, or recording, etc. Let me know.

For those of you who don't even know what a theremin is, check it out here... http://www.thereminworld.com It should have everything you need to know about it.

I support any activity that involves a theremin. It's rare to actually see them used live, the only times they've really stuck out for me was when fishbone used one for pne of their sets and Man Or Astroman used one...and set it on fire hendrix style.

Honestly I had no idea that any companies were still making them commercially. I thought RCA was the last companty to manufature them a long time ago. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 4:31pm

There are actually several different companies out there. Links to all their sites are available thru http://www.thereminworld.com - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 5:22pm

Well, I guess I'm just out of touch with the modern world of theremins. I've seen dozens of sites with instructions on building your own - mostly out of radio parts. altogether it's a pretty fascinating instrument and it's history is as well. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 5:38pm

I wanted to build one for a UVic class a few years ago, but my knowledge of electronics was/is minimal at best. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 5:49pm

Building a theremin is actually relatively easy. I have never built one myself, but MOOG's Big Briar company actually sells Etherwave kits for people to build their own. - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 6:52pm

Ian - 207 'twas! haha Schloss is awesome, but yes, a tad crazy

Jaron, I realize it's relatively easy, but that's assuming you have electronics experience. All I could muster was a crappy overdrive pedal... I should really re-house that thing. We called it the DeathFart DF-1 - Sun, 9 Jan 2005 7:26pm

If you wanna try and track down that recording, the album is called "Decompositions" by Lashing Ether. The song featuring the theremin is called "5000 Fingers"
