hey I'm a guitar player and I want to record some of my originals on my computer... anybody know the BEST/CEAPEST way to go about this? and also since recording drums right now is not an option, know where I can get some pre recorded stuff? and no weak techno drum programs, they all sound as good as tatu. help! - Tue, 6 Jan 2004 1:57pm

ummm...best or cheapest? Seriously, the range of options is massive, and it really depends on which of those two words is most important. How about a rough idea of how much you are willing to spend? What do you want to record? Just guitar? Electric/acoustic/vox/bass.... the recording world is a massive place. - Tue, 6 Jan 2004 5:16pm

as for drums, either dish out the cash for a good drums machine or settle for cheap sounding drums. Fruityloops is a good app to make Drum loops. they dont sound like Bonham wailing away, but they're good enough. - Tue, 6 Jan 2004 6:17pm

Like I said, it totally depends on your budget. If you go can afford to go up to Sonar/Cubase SX, they come bundled with drum sequencers that use real samples, and although it takes a lot of work, a sequencer with real drum sounds can be made to sound very realistic, but the learning curve is fairly steep. You can also independently get drum sequencing programs/samplers and search the net for drum samples, there are a lot out there for free, but it takes time to find and preview them all. - Wed, 7 Jan 2004 7:03am

Steinberg's "Studio Case". For reasonably cheap it has light versions of Cubase, Groove Agent (the answer to your drum problem), Halion, The Grand, Visrtual Guitarist and D'Cota.

Call L&M, I'm sure they can give you a price for it. - Tue, 13 Jan 2004 2:34pm
